DV Consulting
As you can see from the Bar Chart (sample data from a recent past) below, implementation of BI or DV application can be as expensive as licensing cost. A few comments here: all “Red” Bars (bellow yellow “average” Bar of $202K) all represents vendors with obsolete and way too complex software and first (and most) reaction I saw from potential customers was just ignore vendors like SAP or Oracle. Another comment on smallest “Blue” Bars: PALO, Pentaho and similar cheap tools will save your money but will waste your time.
A few comments for Chart below: Megavendors (I called them DV Misleaders) will overcharge you and leave you with useless and underused solution. Open source players will save you money (compare Megavendors and “Large Players”) but underdeliver the value. While so called “Self-Contained Pure Plays” (3 of them are real DV Leaders) still will overcharge you License-wise, they are in most cases (Spotfire, Qliktech and Tableau) the vendors who will help you to solve your problems and be a future-proof.
